a letter, a number, a place catches my eye again. some small fabrication of home, she clinks the plates, a frittata in the oven. the taste isn't everything, but the stillness in all of us is. the heat at barton springs, the birds in lubbock. i don't need texas, but i want it at times, flittering softly through my memory. i guess it's all just little words and worries and shade and sunshine and stars glistening so bright through the swamp-heat that we all melt down like their frazzled wonder.
