"We're delighted to welcome 't Geruis to Home Normal following previous releases on revered labels such as Lost Tribe Sound, LAAPS, Line and Quiet Details.

The work of this singular artist came to my attention through the kind invitation to master his debut album 'Various Thoughts and Places' in 2021 on LTS. Since then it is fair to say that 't Geruis has gained something of a cult following and his enigmatic presence online, alongside the dusty memory-hued music, only adds to this feeling of otherworldliness.

'The Kindest Encounters' is another gorgeous slice of deeply warm analog ambient music that moves comfortably between melody and noise and all manner of technicolour warble in between. The cover by the artist himself highlights this nature perfectly, with its slightly out-of-focus reflection on water mirroring the real and organic, yet also showing an indefinable world beyond.

On a personal level I consider the work of 't Geruis to be utterly compelling, especially at a time of increased similarities across the creative spectrum, and as such incredibly life-affirming in its character and being. Music can do things to the human spirit that are impossible to put into words, leaving us wide-eyed with a joyful wonder as this creativity opens up new ways of being, even if only for a moment. In this digital age I am so thankful for the warmth of such an analog spirit as 't Geruis wandering the world sharing the things that sit just slightly out of view; blurred and often forgotten but always there, guiding us home."

PRESS:

'It's not the first time Jolan's brand of dusty music has entered the world, but The Kindest Encounters finds him bringing the style to an advanced degree of artistry. As the album plays, it's almost impossible not to draw a parallel between it and the nostalgic feeling that sets in when faded colour photographs are viewed. Much as in that case, one feels in listening to his music as if the world presented is both familiar yet at the same time impossibly out of reach.' - Textura
