I (Ludvig) have resonated with the profoundly soulful musical explorations of Angel Rodriguez and Michael Cole under their Slam Mode guise for a long time. Irresistible grooves couched in atmospheric realms, coloured as much by the futuristic as by the occult. Jazzy, warm and endlessly imaginative, their vast catalog is a treasure for anyone who delight in the deeper, organic flavours of house and techno. Effortlessly marrying tribal and traditional elements with sounds from the distant future, Slam Mode's music is vibrating with imagination and purpose.

When Angel sent me a copy of the duos' ambient milestone Amorphous, I found myself caught in the gravitational pull of its sonic world. Some musical works just has that mystical power, of bringing feelings into your awareness that are so familiar, yet you wouldn't be able to describe them no matter how many words you would use. I usually employ spiritual language to try to hint at these things, so I say that it is like the music brings an aspect of my Soul to the surface, leaving me with this seemingly contradictory quality of feeling something so fresh and new that I simultaneously have always known.

My affinity with these sounds and my deep appreciation for all that Slam Mode's music has given me over the years led me to take on the honorable challenge of giving Amorphous a physical incarnation via LILA लीला. It's my pleasure to welcome Angel and Michael to the label with this work of sonorous art in a new special edition.
