Toward the end of 2024, I sent Brian Grainger (Coppice Halifax) a collection of sounds, loops, and textures, giving him complete creative freedom to reshape them into something entirely new. Much like his remarkable reinterpretation of LL ('LL1 (Beige Mix)' ZD-026, 2023), every piece on this album was constructed exclusively from the source material I provided. What makes this especially extraordinary is that the original recordings contained no beats or predefined rhythmic structures. Brian painstakingly built every rhythm, melody, pattern, and gesture from those raw sounds alone.

This is far more than a remix album. It is a complete deconstruction and reconstruction of the original material, revealing possibilities I could never have imagined. Experiencing these pieces for the first time left me with the same sense of amazement I felt when I first heard his LL reinterpretation in 2023. Brian has an uncanny ability to uncover music hidden within the smallest sonic fragments, transforming the familiar into something wholly unexpected while remaining deeply connected to its source. The result is an entirely new body of work that unmistakably carries the DNA of zakè while bearing the unmistakable creative imprint of Coppice Halifax.

Consider this a precursor to a more formal collaboration between Brian and me, with more to come in the near future. Until then, enjoy the sounds.
