A single, 86-minute long cassette that features both Music For Airport Delays and It Doesn't Snow In Toronto Anymore by Kilometre Club. The former album takes up the entire first side, with its final track beginning the second side, and the entirety of It Doesn't Snow follows. Nearly an hour and a half of textured drone on limited yellow tape. Edition of 50.
"I wish I liked airports more. In theory, the excitement of travelling somewhere new fulfills my wanderlust, and allows me to visit friends, see new places, and create lasting memories. But the reality of airplane travel is that when it goes wrong, it creates the kinds of stresses that really get to me. Of the 16 or so flights I've made since COVID, all but two were delayed by 2 or more hours, with one being delayed by two days - resulting in me needing to rent a car to get home. My odds are worse than most, but they have dissuaded me from flying if there are other options.
I thought about the idea for Music For Airport Delays during one of my waits of 4+ hours because they had to switch planes but someone ran out of time on their shift. Obviously inspired by the landmark near namesake, this album is not directly inspired by it. It's also not built upon the anxiety felt when stuck in an airport. Instead it's an antidote, a calming collection of slowly evolving ambient drone pieces built to ease the tension when the pilot gets stuck in traffic and one of the crew then has to stop working. Or there were too many raindrops.
Music For Airport Delays is a sombre yet hopeful album for moving from one place to another, or all the time you have before you can move."
