"Over the last year, I became completely fascinated with the idea of destiny. There were many moments where it felt like I had little control over the choices in front of me, or the outcomes that followed. Life kept presenting me with timelines I didn’t expect, shifts I didn’t ask for consciously but perhaps my subconscious was begging for. Still, I knew I was being guided, even when it felt unclear. Over time, I began to realize these shifts were necessary to move me toward the next phase of my life.
This album explores that space: the transition space between where you are and where you're going.
While creating, I began to believe that maybe we’re not destined for just one thing. To me, fate feels predetermined. But destiny feels open, expansive, and limitless. It’s about trust, surrender, and the ability to be open, when we can't see what's behind the door.
Musically, I had the idea of mixing and creating the album in a way as though you are listening on a plane, up in the clouds, suspended, spacious, and at times, turbulent. There’s white noise and air behind every mix. Glitchy pedal sounds, a constant low hum, textures that shift in and out of focus. I used my own field recordings, guitar, synths, pedals, samples, and droning tones from singing bowls. Nothing is meant to take center stage, and everything moves and blends like clouds passing each other.
Each piece is titled in sequence, Destiny #1, Destiny #2, etc, as the reflection of choices, timelines, and possibilities available to us in any given moment. Destiny is my version of a dreamstate album. One to listen to when you need to recenter, invite clarity, or when there is a need to reestablish the trust and connection to oneself.
