Continuing in IN's series of limited cassettes, this semi-DIY collection will be in an edition of 55.

"anthéne, the moniker of Toronto-based Brad Deschamps, has developed an approach to ambient and drone has been probably one of the most influential on my own way to making music. Since discovering his vast catalogue, I have been consistently impressed with his techniques, textures, and creativity. It's one of the reasons he is among the most beloved in the genre. When I started Imaginary North in 2022, I was so excited to be able to include one of Brad's tracks on the first Imaginary North Transmission compilation.

Earlier this year, I connected with Brad about putting something together for IN, I challenged him to create something using an approach or instrument he hadn't used before. As we tend to love high concept works, this was an opportunity for some new music from anthéne that kept in pattern with previous work but offered something new and unique. He suggested creating some songs using only a harmonium and effects pedals.

The result here is this absolutely stunning collection, seven pieces for harmonium. On it, you'll find some of the same tendencies that make his discography so special - loops that dance around expectations of tempo, smooth and reverberated tones, emotional resonance, and expert composition. These seven pieces will most definitely delight his longstanding fans and find new ones as well!" -Daniel Field, September 2024
